What is the purpose of a dying universe?

If this future of infinite total darkness and timelessness shown in this video is true, then it seems to make a currently “awake” universe important.

Why? What is the intuition that the dark lifeless future makes the current state of the universe special? And is there an implication for what matters? Does this make all sentient life important? Does it make non-sentient life important? Is that intuition that the current “epoch” with life and stuff is special and important, just an artifact of speciesm/anthropocentrism, or is there some truth to it? Is there an intuition of an unfulfilled purpose with just a moment to achieve it?
